The level, overall amount and type of fostering allowance you will receive will be determined by the type of fostering organisation you work for.
Independent fostering agencies
Evolve Fostering is a leading independent fostering agency and we follow the fostering regulations and best guidance to provide your support.
Your foster carer payment will be up to £750 per week depending on the needs and placement types for the child or young person including:
- • Complex or enhanced needs
- • Parent and child placements
- • Solo placements
- • Siblings placed together
- • Disabled needs
The payment level you receive is well above the National Minimum fostering allowances set by the Department for Education (DFE).
We will tailor and provide a bespoke fostering support package for each foster carers and then each child or young person placed.
Local authority foster carer
Local authority payments for fostering are to cover the National Minimum fostering allowances as a key requirement. This is up £270 per week for a young person aged 16 to 17 (with foster carers based in London). These are recommended minimum levels overall and you would receive a reward element in addition to this.
Selected local authorities also operates through independent trusts to provide their fostering.
This is when a child or young person is aged under 16 (or under 18 if disabled) and they are cared for by a person who is not their parent or a close relative. This is for 28 days or more in their own home and the relevant Local Authority must be informed.
The relevant payment is a private arrangement between the parent and the foster carer. The foster carer is usually responsible for claiming the correct benefits for the child or young person include tax credits or housing benefit.
