evolve Therapeutic Fostering provides children and young people with a safe, secure and nurturing family environment. With record numbers of children and young people coming into care and more than 12% of the foster parent workforce retiring or leaving every year, there is a real need to recruit foster parents to provide children and young people with safe and secure homes, where they can enjoy their childhood and evolve.
Supporting our foster families to care
By its very nature, having to be fostered usually means that a child or young person is already significantly disadvantaged in having an equal chance alongside their peers who have grown up from birth in a stable, nurturing home. To be placed in care signals the loss of a basic birthright – to be nurtured and raised by sensitive, consistent parents, who are attuned to your needs and can meet them.
“As a carer, I feel valued and listened to.”
Neglect or abuse during a child or young person’s formative years is traumatic. When traumatic experiences are over, the symptoms do not disappear, and a child or young person could be consumed by the impact of their trauma well into adulthood if they do not receive bespoke support. Once a child or young person is placed with an evolve foster family, we do everything we can to heal the trauma of rejection, loss, abuse and neglect. Therapeutic fostering is not about becoming a therapist, it is a unique way of parenting a child or young person who missed out on healthy emotional development and milestones in their early years. Traumatised children and young people need a lot of support and encouragement to develop the positive self-esteem and confidence they need to do well in life.
